August 2020 HOPE Spotlight
This month's spotlight goes to PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP Audit and Assurance firm. PWC has vowed to support both Hope Dealing Mindset Corp. and iHope Mentoring Inc. Through their company wide support we were able to purchase 10 brand new tablets, tablet covers, wireless network cards and usb drives. Each of our mentees will receive these items as they will aide in their academics and help push our digital agenda. We greatly appreciate PWC LLP and their belief in our mission to provide for others in need.
Our 2020 Spotlight goes to our very own VP of iHope Mentoring Deputy Chris Shand. Deputy Chris began with iHope Mentoring in November of 2018. His goal at the time was to mentor young males in the central Florida area. His focused shifted as he began to get deeply rooted into these young mens lives. He made a decision to join the police force in hopes that he could attain a career and be a positive motivational tool for the boys. Deputy Chris graduated from the police academy and is now a Deputy with the Orange County Sherrifs Office. We are very proud amd thank you for your service.
"Bridging The Gap" 2019 hosted by: iHope Mentoring
On June 29th we hosted our 1st Annual "Bridging the
Gap" field day with law enforcement. We are all too familiar with the miscommunications and distant relationships between law enforcement and young African American males. Our aim was to show them that all cops aren't bad to also show he cops that all boys of color aren't criminals. We had a very successful event and we can't begin thank the Orlando Police Department for their support! This was truly monumental for the city of Orlando. We have to shed light on the positive acts that are done in the community. This helps combat the race war that's so prevalent in our community. Let's all continue to be change agents to ensure that our youths future are secured properly and that law enforcement isn't being viewed as the enemy. Can't wait for the next event with Law Enforcement! Bridge That Gap!!!
iHope Mentoring Spotlight June 2019
We began iHope Mentoring on November 1, 2018 with 3 boys and now we are averaging 35-40 boys twice a week. It's a blessing to have them so highly committed and we are seeing the results of that commitment. Pictured below we have Jaden and Taylor. Jaden has just began his 1st job ever as a Mcdonalds employee. He's excited about being in the workforce and ready to start saving some money.
Last year I hosted my 2nd Annual Teen Job Fair. Taylor was on of many that walked away with employment. This month marks a year with him being employed by the Holy Land Experience and he’s done a great job! Let’s give him a huge congratulations for hanging in there doing what he has to do to stay on the right path! Congratulations Taylor!!!!
Great Oaks Village Youth Shelter
October 10, 2018
Holy Land Experience
It was a pleasure to have the young men and women of the Great Oaks Village Youth Shelter out to visit The Holy Land Experience. As a child I once stayed in this shelter so I know firsthand about the day to day things that they deal with. We enjoyed put put golf, a great lunch, and some amazing shows! We concluded with a heart to to heart talk about life and social skills. They have such a bright future and it was a blessing to share a day with them. We give SPECIAL THANKS to The Holy Land Experience for sponsoring this visit and allowing the youth and it's staff members to relish in the fun times and lasting moments at the park. #ThisIsWhyWeHope
1st. Annual Hope & A Healthy Smile
September 8, 2018
Windsor Cove Apartments
Our spotlight this month goes to the residents of Windsor Cove Apartments located on Mercy Drive in Orlando, Florida. This the neighborhood in which our Founder, Marcus Brown grew up in. Although, we have done many events in this community,we had never did anything on those grounds. This community has had a tremendous amount of violence and deaths over the years. Our Founder, Marcus once was a contributing member to the wrongdoings there so, doing this health fair meant the world to him. To now come back and provide clothing, food, health and dental resources was a blessing and a clear example of change. This is truly why we hope!
